IIn 2008 the Ohio Legislature passed Ohio’s Booster Seat Law, with the Governor signing it into law in January 2009.  This amendment to the Ohio Revised Code will require children ages 4 to 8 or who are less than 4’9 (57 inches) to ride in a federally approved booster seat - for example a 6yr old 4'10" child is exempt as is a 9 yr old 4'2" child.  This secondary law will carry a minimum fine of $25.00. Written warnings will begin October 7, 2009 and citations will begin April 7, 2010.  For specific information regarding the booster seat law, please go to www.boostohiokids.org or click here.  Please contact Safe Kids Stark County with your questions or to have your booster seat inspected.
